Top 5 FAQs of Boiler Servicing

To help you understand more about your boiler and how to look after, we’ve answered the most common questions we get asked about boiler servicing, so you don’t have to ask!

Do I need to service my boiler?

Paying to have your boiler serviced may seem like another unnecessary cost (especially when it appears to be working fine) but a boiler service can help ensure that your boiler is working exactly as it should be and ensure that your boiler is functioning efficiently, helping you lower your bills over the year.
Most importantly however, an annual boiler service ensures that your boiler has no weak spots or leaks that could be potentially harmful to you and your family.

Do I need to service my brand new boiler?

Ideally, you should get your new boiler serviced a year after you got it installed. This will check all is running smoothly and it is still as efficient as it was when brand new.
Even if your boiler looks in perfect condition, there may be problems on the inside- so it is definitely worth getting it checked every year to prevent any problems leading to a breakdown.
More importantly, some new boilers come with a guarantee/warranty that requires it to be serviced each year. If you fail to do this, your guarantee/warranty will invalidate and you won’t be protected from any repairs or breakdowns.

Does the law require me to service my boiler?

If you are a landlord, you are legally required to service your boilers and other gas appliances each year, to ensure your tenants’ safety. If you are a regular homeowner, you are not required to by law, but it is still a god idea to get your boiler checked each year.

How long does it take to get my boiler serviced?

A boiler service can take anywhere from 30 minutes to longer, depending on the condition and the age of your boiler. However long it takes, it is worth it for a year of peace of mind!
